Rust / Rustification Engineer
Location: Seattle, WA (Onsite)
Rate: $60/hr C2C. (we need contractors only this is 3 months project with possible extension)
The hardest to source. This person rewrites memory-heavy Java services in Rust to eliminate JVM overhead (garbage collector, heap, JIT). Needs deep production Rust — ownership/borrowing, async/Tokio — plus enough Java understanding to prove the rewrite behaves identically, then drive a safe cutover. Target stack: Smithy Rust Server SDK, ECS Fargate on ARM64/Graviton, plus Amazon-internal tools (CargoBrazil, CDK — trainable). Notably, they want someone comfortable using AI coding agents as the primary workflow for the rewrite.
