Job Description:
The SAP DTS Functional Architect will be a key player in the design,
implementation, and optimization of our SAP Plant Transportation System
(PTS) solution. This role demands a seasoned professional with deep
functional expertise in SAP PTS, a proven track record of successful SAP
implementations, including S/4HANA projects, and the ability to provide
strategic direction for our SAP landscape. The ideal candidate will
possess exceptional communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a
passion for driving business value through technology.
Responsibilities:
Solution Architecture:
Lead the design and architecture of SAP PTS solutions to meet complex
business requirements, ensuring scalability, performance, and
integration with other SAP modules and external systems.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of SAP PTS
functionalities, best practices, and industry trends.
Provide expert guidance on SAP PTS configuration, customization, and
enhancement options.
Define and document solution architecture blueprints, functional
specifications, and technical design documents.
Project Leadership:
Lead and manage SAP PTS implementation projects, including S/4HANA
migrations, from inception to go-live, ensuring adherence to project
timelines, budget, and quality standards.
Collaborate with project managers, technical teams, and business
stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
Provide functional leadership and guidance to project team members,
including business analysts, developers, and consultants.
Manage and resolve complex functional issues and risks, escalating to
management as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in SAP implementation, with a
focus on SAP PTS.
Extensive experience in multiple full-lifecycle SAP implementations,
including at least 2 S/4HANA implementation projects.
Deep functional knowledge of SAP PTS modules, including transportation
planning, execution, and settlement.
Strong understanding of transportation management business processes,
including inbound/outbound logistics, freight management, and carrier
management.
Experience with integration of SAP PTS with other SAP modules, such as
SD, MM, and WM.
Proficiency in SAP configuration, customization, and ABAP debugging.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong leadership skills and experience managing project teams.
SAP certification in relevant modules is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with SAP Transportation Management (TM) and its integration
with PTS.
Knowledge of industry-specific best practices for transportation
management.
Experience with EDI and other electronic communication methods for
transportation.
Familiarity with cloud-based SAP solutions.
Business Process Optimization:
Analyze existing business processes related to transportation planning
and execution, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
Translate business requirements into functional specifications and
design SAP PTS solutions that streamline operations, improve efficiency,
and reduce costs.
Develop and implement best-practice solutions for transportation
planning, execution, and settlement within SAP PTS.
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with business stakeholders at all levels to gather
requirements, define solution scope, and ensure alignment with business
objectives.
Communicate effectively with technical teams, providing clear functional
specifications and guidance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including
business process owners, IT management, and external vendors.
SAP S/4HANA Expertise:
Leverage deep knowledge of SAP S/4HANA to design and implement PTS
solutions that are optimized for the S/4HANA platform.
Provide guidance on S/4HANA migration strategies and best practices for
SAP PTS.
Stay up-to-date on the latest S/4HANA features and functionalities
related to transportation management and logistics.
Mentoring and Knowledge Transfer:
Mentor and coach junior functional team members, sharing SAP PTS
knowledge and best practices.
Develop and deliver training programs for end-users and support staff.
Contribute to the development of SAP PTS methodologies, tools, and
templates.
