Job: Sr. Software Developer
Location: 100% Remote (100% Prefers Dallas, TX local but not a deal breaker)
Term: 6 mos. CTH
Interview Process: 2 interviews in one day, 1st round will be 30 mins with the Manager or Team Lead/2nd interview will be in the afternoon with team -- decision will be made that day. -- please set expectations with candidates for same day opportunities.
Reason for Opening: Backfill. Critical role—they will be working with 3 other teammates and will be responsible for doing product launches, such as communication productions for email, text messaging, VOIP, photo/video
Project/Day to Day: They will be doing all brand new development
Competition: zero agencies; but internal is working on it as well; but confirmation from internal is that they aren’t fully allocated to this
How long has it been open/Why are the resumes missing the mark? Current consultant in this position is operating at a mid-level development level rather than Sr. Also, the current consultant does not have any agile experience (sprint planning, running/managing 2 week sprints) and that is required for this role.

Travel: No, if they are local to Dallas sometimes they meet onsite 1X/month or quarterly but not a requirement for this role

When qualifying:
Can you please have candidates have a working laptop – that has IDE and dev tools that are needed to be installed. Whatever the candidates feel comfortable to show their understanding of tools they use.
Example:
Java candidates – any IDE that can help them use spring/springboot. Intellij or eclipse.. whatever IDE/library they are familiar with.
TOP SKILLS:
· 3+ years of strong, hands-on software development experience (willing to go down to 5+)
· Enterprise wide product launch experience
· Must have experience in Spring Boot and Spring Framework
· Recent experience in enterprise Java
· Has worked in an agile environment (daily standups, working in two-week sprints)
· Microservices and enterprise API experience
· Understanding of security of development
· Some database understanding is highly preferred
Job Purpose:
Development, maintenance, and support of Java based systems and applications for Securus Online. Strong hands on development and technical design skills.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties
· Analyze business requirements
· Provide Level of Efforts (LOE) for analysis, design and coding
· Develop technical requirements and interface specifications
· Identify skillset gaps and acquire required skillsets to implement solution
· Write code to implement Call Processing software
· Perform unit, functional, integration and performance software testing
· Prepares software deployment packages for Pre-Production and Production
· Provides technical supports to client support teams
· Resolve critical production issues with sense of urgency
· Conduct Proof of Concept (POC) to implement proposed solution
· Focus on new development efforts starting from inception to successful deployment of 1st release in production.
· Develop Project Strawman (high level work breakdown structure) to deliver project on time
· Collaborate with other development teams, Architects, Project Management, Q/A, Production Support to deliver cross-functional projects within existing architecture.
· Conduct Showcases to Business Partners
· Perform other duties as assigned

· Demonstrable analytical skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical design
· Proficient in software design, development, & unit testing with strong work ethic
· Problem solving, debugging, and application and code maintenance skills
· Ability to work individually with minimal guidance and desire to take ownership of deliverables
· Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and respond to ad hoc requests
· Ability to accurately estimate the level of effort required for planned designs.
· Ability to work under different development methodologies – Agile, iterative
· Ability to work with diverse teams
· Ability to digest and understand larger systems and how features fit within the larger system
· Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Adapts to rapidly changing priorities.
· Deep knowledge of additional programming languages and tools as required for the specific team or position. These may include, but are not limited to Git/Bitbucket, IntelliJ or Eclipse, etc.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills and a high level of comfort presenting to all levels of business and technical audience
· Ability to drive technical teams to deliver solutions in accordance with design and timeline
· Familiarity with Waterfall and Agile methodologies
· Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or a commensurate combination of work experience and certifications
· 7+ years’ strong hands-on experience developing in
o Java/Spring Framework
o Relational and/or NoSQL Databases
Preferred Qualifications
· 3+ years of experience developing and running under Linux
· Experience with the following:
o Mongo DB, Elastic Search
o ELK Stack
o jMeter
o Salt Stack
· Additional experience in development and lead roles (10+ years)
Physical Requirements
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment.
