Hi,

An early response is really appreciated.

Role                 : SAP BW/4HANA Consultant

Location           : Miami, FL 33134 (Onsite)
Duration           : 12+ Months

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

  • Own and sign off the target BW/4HANA data architecture, including ADSO and CompositeProvider design, LSA++ layer strategy, HANA pushdown approach, and data tiering (hot / warm / cold).
  • Define the conversion approach (Remote Conversion — Brown Field) and govern its execution across Sandbox, Development, QA and Production environments.
  • Lead the object-classification exercise for all 9,162 BW objects, confirming each as convertible, adjustment-required or nonconvertible, and define the remediation path.
  • Govern scope rationalisation: drive the reduction of ~1,512 BEx queries to the agreed ~338–350 target, retiring ADHOC (Y*) content and year-based structures with business justification.
  • Approve architecture design documents, data model blueprints, integration architecture and security framework before development begins.
  • Conversion & Remediation
  • Direct the multi-step Sandbox → Development → QA → Production remote conversion sequence, including SUM execution, BW/4HANA Starter Add-on and RFC connectivity setup.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership for remediation of the 3,113 nonconvertible + 1,112 adjustment-required objects, including unsupported transformations, InfoPackages, APD-based processes and custom ABAP.
  • Review and approve all AMDP / SQLScript rewrites and HANA pushdown implementations by the offshore team.
  • Ensure reporting-layer readiness: BEx query conversion and rework, AFO workbook re-pointing, Power BI and BusinessObjects re-connection, and security role migration (~30–35 roles).
  • Oversee compatibility of all inbound integrations (SAP S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, Fieldglass, flat files) and outbound feeds (Finance BW, Open Hub destinations) in the parallel BW/4HANA environment before cutover.

Custom Objects & Integrations

  • Lead the technical approach for custom Z/Y tables, custom ABAP programs, SAP CPI iFlows and web services — classifying each as retain / re-point / redesign / retire.
  • Ensure code-inspector and ATC scans are executed and all HANA-incompatible statements remediated before system conversion.
  • Sign off on SPAU/SPDD completion in Development, and validate that break-fix transport retrofits into BW/4HANA DEV remain aligned with the parallel legacy landscape.

Testing, Cutover & Go-Live

  • Drive the overall testing strategy: Unit Testing, SIT, Performance Benchmarking, Full Mock Migration, Dress Rehearsal and UAT.
  • Oversee multi-level automated data reconciliation (record count, aggregates, key figures) at every mock cycle and at production cutover, using the Report Validator accelerator.
  • Define and execute the Soft Freeze and Hard Freeze governance framework in the lead-up to production cutover.
  • Lead the production cutover and manage the ~30-hour cutover window across Basis, BW, Infrastructure and Business teams; serve as the on-site decision-maker for go / no-go and rollback.
  • Provide Hypercare support during the mandatory 4-week post-go-live period, monitoring process chains, integrations and data loads.
  • Client Engagement & Governance
  • Act as the primary Infosys technical interface with  BW Lead, Basis Team Lead, Security and Infrastructure teams on a daily basis.
  • Represent Infosys in Weekly Project Status Reviews and contribute architectural input to monthly Steering Committee and Executive Governance Reviews.
  • Maintain the RAID log for all technical risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies; escalate architectural blockers within 24 hours per the programme's escalation SLAs.
  • Manage the Change Request process for technical scope changes, completing impact assessment across schedule, cost and risk before approval.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and produce technical specification documentation for newly developed models, ensuring support team can sustain the BW/4HANA landscape post-programme.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related technical field.

Technical Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of SAP BW experience, with at least 3 full end-to-end BW/4HANA conversion or greenfield implementation projects.
  • Demonstrated hands-on delivery of the SAP Remote Conversion (Brown Field) approach, including SUM execution, Starter Add-on installation, RFC remote transfer, and BW/4HANA-native simplification.
  • Deep expertise in BW/4HANA-native structures: ADSO (standard, write-optimised, direct-update), CompositeProvider, Open ODS View, HANA Calculation Views, and LSA++ architecture.
  • Proficiency in HANA pushdown optimisation: AMDPs, SQLScript, HANA database procedures, partition strategies and columnar storage tuning.
  • Strong ABAP development background: code inspector, ATC, SPAU/SPDD execution, HANA-compatibility remediation, user exits, BAdIs, transformation routines.
  • Experience with the SAP BW/4HANA Readiness Assessment toolset (pre-check programs, SWPM, code analysis reports) and interpretation of the output for planning purposes.
  • Proven experience managing large BW landscapes: comfortable designing and executing migrations with 5,000+ objects and 400+ GB data volumes.
  • Integration competency: SAP ODP framework, SAP CPI, SOAP/REST web services, SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, Fieldglass extractors, Open Hub, Finance BW outbound feeds.
  • Reporting-layer expertise: BEx Query Designer, Analysis for Office, SAP Analysis for Office, Power BI connectivity to BW/4HANA, BusinessObjects universe administration.
  • SAP security and authorisation framework in BW/4HANA: analysis authorisations, GRC-integrated role design, SSO configuration.

  • Prior experience in the HR / HCM reporting domain strongly preferred: familiarity with SAP HCM, SuccessFactors and payroll data structures.
  • Experience in the Energy & Utilities industry or other regulated environments is an advantage.
  • Programme & Client Management
  • Track record of leading technical delivery on fixed-price SAP programmes with formal milestone governance.
  • Comfortable presenting technical risks, architectural decisions and cutover plans to client CTO / IT Director level.
  • Experience working in a hybrid onshore / offshore delivery model; ability to direct and review offshore team output effectively.
  • Strong written communication: ability to produce Architecture Design Documents, Conversion Runbooks, Test Strategy documents and Technical Specifications to a client-publishable standard.

Preferred / Differentiating Skills

  • SAP Certified Technology Associate — SAP BW/4HANA or equivalent BW certification.
  • Knowledge of SAP BASIS activities relevant to BW/4HANA: SWPM, transport management, system refresh, OS/DB migration.
  • Familiarity with Power BI semantic model design and DirectQuery / Import mode connectivity to BW/4HANA.
