Location: Remote


Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Microsoft Fabric Senior Developer to design, build, and operate scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms for a healthcare client. The role focuses on Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Medallion Architecture, delivering governed Lakehouse solutions that support analytics, reporting, and advanced data use cases.

This role leads end-to-end data platform initiatives, translates business requirements into robust data pipelines, and mentors engineers to ensure reliable, compliant, and cost-optimized data products.


Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement end-to-end data solutions on Microsoft Fabric, applying Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) for ingestion, cleansing, transformation, and serving layers.
  • Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Fabric Dataflows, and Fabric Notebooks, optimized for performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Develop and maintain data models and transformations using Spark (PySpark/Scala), SQL, and Fabric OneLake.
  • Implement incremental processing, schema evolution, data validation, and data quality checks.
  • Ensure data governance, security, and compliance, including RBAC, encryption, lineage, cataloging, and adherence to healthcare and organizational policies.
  • Operationalize data pipelines with monitoring, alerting, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation.
  • Create and maintain runbooks and operational documentation to support high availability and supportability.
  • Collaborate with product owners, data scientists, BI teams, and platform engineers to deliver production-ready data products.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design guidance, and best practices.
  • Drive performance tuning for Spark workloads, Fabric compute, and storage layers.
  • Implement cost optimization strategies across compute and storage.
  • Evaluate and adopt new Microsoft Fabric features, Azure services, and third-party tools to continuously improve the platform.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
  • Microsoft Fabric: Hands-on experience designing and delivering solutions on Microsoft Fabric, or strong lakehouse experience with readiness to adopt Fabric.
  • Azure Data Factory: Strong experience with ADF or equivalent orchestration tools.
  • Medallion Architecture: Proven experience implementing Bronze/Silver/Gold layers, incremental loads, and partitioning strategies.
  • Big Data: Strong hands-on experience with Spark (PySpark or Scala) and SQL.
  • Data Storage: Experience with OneLake, ADLS Gen2, Delta Lake, or similar lakehouse storage technologies.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions for pipeline automation and deployments.
  • Data Governance: Working knowledge of data cataloging, lineage, RBAC, and compliance controls.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, stakeholder management, and mentoring capability.
