SRE Engineer with Observability Experience
Location: Basking Ridge, NJ
Contract
Mandatory Skills: ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) and Grafana
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of experience in an Observability, Monitoring, or DevOps role with a strong focus on application performance and functional monitoring.
Expertise with the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana):
Proven experience in deploying, configuring, and managing large-scale ELK environments.
Strong understanding of Elasticsearch indexing, querying (Lucene query syntax), and performance tuning.
Proficiency in Logstash for data ingestion, filtering, and transformation.
Experience with Kibana for data exploration, visualization, and dashboard creation.
Extensive experience with Grafana:
Demonstrated ability to design, build, and optimize complex Grafana dashboards.
Proficiency in connecting Grafana to various data sources, especially Elasticsearch.
Experience with Grafana alerting and notification configurations.
Strong understanding of application architecture, microservices, and distributed systems.
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and data manipulation.
Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems (Good to have).
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with other monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk, AppDynamics).
Understanding of ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
