Role : SAS Data Engineer
Location : Cincinnati, OH 45202 (Onsite)
Duration: : 12+ Months
Technical Skills – Must Have:
- 5+ years of functional SAS development experience
- Hands-on experience with SAS tools deployed on SAS platform
- Expertise in extracting data from mainframe using JCL and SAS Connect
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements and develop SAS solutions
- Knowledge of architectural design, web part development, system management, and troubleshooting at an enterprise scale
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously
- Proven experience in developing functional applications and systems of medium to high technical complexity
- Expert use of SQL with experience in relational databases including DB2 and MS SQL Server
Industry & Domain Expertise:
- Mandatory: Experience in the financial services sector, preferably at a super-regional or national bank
- Highly Preferred: Direct experience with Commercial Credit Risk data
- Background combining SAS, quantitative/statistical analysis, and banking is ideal
Core Responsibilities:
SAS Platform Management:
- Provide daily operations support for the SAS platform
- Re-write and enhance existing SAS reports for the Commercial Credit Risk Strategy and Reporting team
- Develop and implement SAS solutions including complete projects, proof-of-concepts, and code snippets
- Automate legacy reports as new data source platforms are introduced
Excel Proficiency:
- Mastery of advanced Excel functions (Pivot Tables, Power Query, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, array formulas)
- Build data visualizations and dashboards using Excel
- Integrate Excel with other tools (SAS, SQL) for efficient reporting
Testing & Quality Assurance:
- Design and implement unit testing for SAS code and data pipelines
- Document test cases and perform root cause analysis when issues arise
Project & Documentation Support:
- Provide project support to researchers and analysts using SAS analytical tools
- Create user-friendly data dissemination methods and reports
- Document processes and provide knowledge transfer/training to team members
- Handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail in data management and reporting
