Sr. Network Engineer
Boston, MA
12+ Months Contract
Job Description:
- Assist in the design, configuration, and management of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and other data communications systems.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
- Monitor network performance, identify issues, and ensure timely resolution to maintain network stability.
- Support network security initiatives, including firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools.
- Collaborate with senior network engineers to implement and maintain network upgrades, expansions, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, topologies, and troubleshooting processes.
- Respond to network incidents and provide timely support to ensure minimal downtime.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging network technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering with a focus on enterprise-level network infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANS, Routing protocols such OSPF and BGP).
- Experience with network hardware (Aruba/HPE, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, ClearPass, Dell Networking, Extreme.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Certifications such Cisco CCNA, CCNP or similar.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge in SD-WAN and network automation
- Experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, APCs).
- Familiarity with network security principles and practices.
