Job Description:
· Seeking a highly skilled and versatile Unified Communications and Voice Engineer to manage and enhance our integrated communication and voice infrastructure. This role demands a strong foundation in both networking principles and unified communications technologies, with specific expertise in integrating voice solutions with modern collaboration platforms. The ideal candidate will be adept at designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex UC and voice environments, ensuring seamless connectivity, high availability, and optimal performance. You will be a key contributor in maintaining our communication systems and driving innovation in our collaboration capabilities.
Responsibilities:
· Design, implement, configure, and maintain the organization's unified communications and voice platforms, with a focus on integration with collaboration tools.
· Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to voice quality, call routing, system performance, network connectivity, and integration problems.
· Administer and maintain VoIP systems, SIP trunking, voice gateways (including AudioCodes SBC), and other voice infrastructure components.
· Integrate voice solutions with Microsoft Teams and the Teams Collaboration platform.
· Manage and support Anywhere 365 integrations with various communication platforms, including Teams.
· Collaborate with network engineers to ensure optimal network performance and Quality of Service (QoS) for voice and video traffic.
· Implement and manage network security devices such as Palo Alto Firewalls and Fortinet Firewalls to secure UC and voice infrastructure.
· Configure and troubleshoot Cisco routing and switching infrastructure supporting UC and voice services.
· Understand and potentially implement SD-WAN solutions to optimize network connectivity for UC and voice.
· Monitor system performance, identify potential bottlenecks across both network and UC/voice components, and implement proactive measures.
· Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for UC and voice systems, network configurations, and integration procedures.
· Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of UC and voice services with the overall IT infrastructure.
· Participate in the planning and execution of UC and voice related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
· Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in unified communications, voice, and networking.
· Ensure compliance with relevant security policies and best practices for UC, voice, and network systems.
· Provide technical support and guidance to end-users on the proper use of UC and voice tools.
· Manage vendor relationships for UC, voice, and network related hardware and software.
· Participate in on-call rotation for critical UC and voice system support.
Must-Have Skills:
Networking Skills:
· Solid understanding of network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and switching concepts.
· Experience with Cisco route/switch configuration and troubleshooting.
· Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Firewall configuration and management.
· Hands-on experience with Fortinet Firewall configuration and management.
· Understanding of SD-WAN concepts and potentially implementation experience.
Voice Team Skills:
· Proven experience with general VoIP technologies and protocols (e.g., SIP, RTP, H.323).
· Expertise in integrating Anywhere 365 with communication platforms.
· Deep understanding and practical experience with the Microsoft Teams Collaboration platform.
· Experience configuring and managing AudioCodes Session Border Controllers (SBCs).
Other Skills We May Need (Preferred):
· Experience with Cisco ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure).
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
· Relevant certifications (e.g., 1 Cisco CCNA/CCNP Collaboration, Palo Alto Networks PCNSA/PCNSE, Fortinet NSE certifications, Microsoft Teams Administrator Associate).
· Experience with other unified communications platforms (e.g., Cisco CUCM, Zoom Phone, Webex Calling).
· Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation tasks.
· Knowledge of Quality of Service (QoS) implementation for voice and video traffic.
· Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
· Knowledge of security best practices for UC, voice, and network systems.
