Spark Developer - Plano, TX or Phoenix, AZ or Johnston, RI – Hybrid – Long-term Contract Role

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop robust data pipelines to collect, process, and compute financial metrics while adhering to quality and development standards.
• Define application architecture and technical designs, ensuring alignment with best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop optimal solutions that meet business data demands.
• Deploy high-performing, bug-free code in production environments.
• Apply strong database design principles and data modeling techniques to build scalable data solutions.
• Drive technical requirements for data frameworks and develop solutions for data acquisition, transformation, streaming, and integration.
• Identify opportunities to expand and optimize existing data frameworks for multiple use cases.
• Perform unit testing to validate data accuracy and ensure quality standards.
• Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business users and support code deployment with the operations team.
• Adhere to change management protocols and compliance regulations for production deployment.

 

Required Skills & Experience:

• Hands-on experience in data engineering.
• Strong experience with streaming capabilities such as Apache Spark, Apache Beam, and Apache Flink.
• Proficiency with message brokers/messaging platforms like Apache Kafka.
• Proven experience with microservices architecture and batch processing.
• Hands-on expertise in Java or Scala programming.
• Excellent SQL development skills.
• Experience with ETL development tools such as Talend or IBM DataStage (preferred).
• Knowledge of Java Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, and Angular for UI development (a plus).
• Deep understanding of cloud-based data processing (AWS preferred).
• Experience working with AWS S3, Redshift, Postgres, Oracle, and MongoDB.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.
• Experience working in a financial services domain.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in data processing.
