Job Description The Development Environment (MSDE) department is seeking a Software Engineer to drive the engineering, operational support and customer consultation services for some key products. MSDE forms part of the Application Infrastructure organization and is responsible for shaping the SDLC within *** (including Etrade) by implementing the tools, systems, and processes used by tens of thousands of developers in the Firm for software development and deployment.
Prior experience in the financial industry is not required; candidates from software companies and other industries are welcome.
Required experience: * Development experience using Java, Python, or .NET * Proficiency in Linux and shell scripting * Familiarity with DevOps practices and Site Reliability Engineering processes and tools * Knowledge in management and configuration of: Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube, Ansible * Solid understanding of source control systems (Git, Subversion) * Excellent problem-solving skills, soft skills, sense of humor, quality, and delivery mindset * Strong sense of personal accountability * Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Responsibilities: * Drive the design, engineering, integration, enhancements, and migrations of Agile and DevOps enablement tools and applications by utilizing Site Reliability and DevOps principles * Help leading, prioritizing, and delivering multiple concurrent software development projects * Follow software development processes and practices (Functional Specification and Testing, Design Specifications, Code Reviews, Unit Testing, Monitoring) * Interface with business and operations teams * Reduce toil, increase automation, evaluate new technologies and explore their applicability to address new requirements
