Title: Red Hat Linux Engineer 

Location: 233 Broadway, New York, NY 10279 

Duration: 12+ months


Introduction: The Consultant Will be responsible for Providing technical expertise in the management, maintenance. and support of the Red Hat Linux (RHEL) systems within the operations environment, This role aims to ensure the stability, security and optimal performance of the critical. Any work product developed for implementation by the Consultant shall be subject to approval by the Fund’s project manager. 


Responsibilities: 

Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks within the Linux Red Hat servers to ensure smooth and responsive application performance for end-users , Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions as required 


Resource Allocation: Configure resource pools, allocate CPU and memory resources appropriately, and ensure efficient usage of virtual resources to avoid resource contention and wastage 


Virtualization and Cloud Integration: Experience with VMware virtualization technologies. Familiarity with Azure cloud platform and the ability to integrate RHEL systems. 


Automation and Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or PowerShell for automation tasks. Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible for managing infrastructure 


Backup and Recovery Strategy: Develop a comprehensive backup and recovery strategy of safeguard critical data, enable rapid recovery in case of failures, and conduct periodic recovery drills. Test and validate disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity. 


Monitoring and Alerts: Work with the Fund’s Information Technology(IT) team to set up proactive monitoring using tools to track server health, resource usage, and other vital parameters. Configure alerts for immediate issue identification 


High Availability and Failover: Set up and maintain high availability solutions like Peacemaker, Keepalive, or Red Hat High Availability Add-on. Configure and manage clusters for load balancing and failover 


Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain up-to-date documentation outlining server configurations, security protocols, recovery procedures, and overall infrastructure architecture. Collaborate with the Fund’s IT team to share knowledge and best practices. 


Capacity Planning: Analyze historical usage patterns and forecast future resource requirements to facilitate informed decisions about scaling the infrastructure. 


Incident Response and Problem Resolution: Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for escalated incidents and complex problems. Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent solutions to prevent recurrence. 



Collaboration and Communication: Collaboration with cross-functioning teams including internal Network Engineers, Developers and Security professionals to achieve operational objectives. Communicate technical effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 


Qualifications and Experiences: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) 
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RCHE) 
  • Ten years of demonstrated experience in managing and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments such as Fortune 500 Companies or other government entities.
