Sr AIX Admin or Engineer
Duration: 1 year contract (will extend if performance is good)
Location: Hybrid (2-3 days onsite a week) Frankfort, KY 40601
Must Haves: AIX experience, Linux/Unix, experience with either Rancher or Docker, Or Kubernetes
The Division of Platform services is seeking a hands-on Systems Engineer with Unix/AIX and Linux experience. The ideal engineer will bring their experiences, best practices, and a collaborative attitude to help drive DevOps and Cloud initiatives. To be successful, one must effectively communicate with our team to orchestrate the creation of solutions that can scale. The responsibilities include building a process for automation as well as contributing to the development of internal tools to achieve operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement secure automation solutions for development, testing, and production environments.
Build and deploy automation, monitoring, and analysis solutions
Support, develop and maintain applications using various DevOp tools such as Ansible, Rancher, Docker and Kubernetes.
Manage our continuous integration and delivery pipeline to maximize efficiency
Implement industry best practices for system hardening and configuration management
Secure, scale, and manage UnixLinux virtual environments
Develop and maintain solutions for operational administration, system/data backup, disaster recovery, and security/performance monitoring
Continuously evaluate existing systems with industry standards, and make recommendations for improvement
Desired Skills & Experiences:
Understanding of system administration in UnixLinux environments
Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
Knowledge of tools like Ansible, Puppet and Jenkins Pipeline
Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform, Cloudformation)
Proficiency in scripting languages including Bash, Python, and JavaScript
Strong communication and documentation skills
An ability to drive to goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining a strong attention to detail
Knowledge and experience with Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM) or Redhat Virtualization would be a plus.
TEAM:
- Team is Responsible for all Unix/Linux/AIX systems.
- They support Oracle OLVM for all databases
- Currently Upgrading to IBM P10
- Team handles all administration of the applications that reside on the machines.
o Help support Kubernetes, docker and rancher.
- Overall Support of the applications and environment
- Might work with the storage team but will not be handling setting up or managing any storage.
