Job title: Mainframe Storage Admin
Location: Dallas, TX (On-site)
Duration: 6+ Months Contract
· Looking for a mainframe storage admin/specialist in a 6-12 months contract or contract-to-hire model, to start immediately.
· Role is Hybrid remote, with 3-4-day colocation with client ever 2-3 months.
Mainframe Storage Management Specialist
· Someone that can participate in a storage management re-architecture and design project. Looking for a Storage Management expert that can provide insight for best practices and assist with the following projects:
· Backup architecture redesign to eliminate weekly full volume backups. of user and application data, and move towards a daily incremental backup philosophy. The goals are to retain incremental backups for required RETPDs while eliminating the redundant weekly backup of full volumes for data that has not changed since the last backup. Strong understanding of CA-Disk is a plus.
SMS redesign to reduce large numbers of STORGRPs and consolidate into a smaller number of larger pools for simplified management of resources. This will provide an opportunity to drive higher levels of utilization that could lead to a potential cost avoidance of additional hardware resources. Implement a philosophy that separates data based on technical requirements and not by individual teams. This will also reduce the amount of DFSMS (ACS) logic to control allocations thus potentially reducing allocation times. Lastly. standardize archiving and retention of all SMS data and increase the percent of data that is SMS controlled.
