JOB DESCRIPTION
Description: Hands on Senior Java Developer with over 9 years of enterprise development experience. Work with multiple business lines and on occasion manage small projects. Skills: Experience Java Developer (JDK 8 or 11) Apache Camel (Version 3) REST API (including Enterprise Authentication and Authentication) Enterprise services (including monitoring, state management) Spring (including Spring Boot and Spring Boot Actuator) JMS (Active MQ or similar) MS SQL Server and/or Sybase experience. Plus: Experience with Capital Markets and understanding how Derivatives instruments are valued. Plus: Murex API
Remarks:
This position has been posted multiple times and the candidates that have interviewed fell short in two main areas:
1. They are looking for someone with heavy core java 8 and up. Most of the candidates that they have seen have many years of Java experience, but it is outdated information. They are more focused on recent and up to date Java 8 experience as opposed to years of experience with previous versions
2. Java Messaging Service (JMS). He wants candidates to be prepared to be able to talk about this on the interview. Kafka vs. JMS, etc.
• They will be supporting the bank so the candidate will be working exclusively in EST. They prefer a hybrid model where they would be onsite two days per week but are open to other formats. Ideally he would like someone that at least comes to work in the office occasionally.
• The day to day of the role will depend on which team they are working on or assigned to so he was unable to give us an idea of what the day to day would be like.
• This is a role that will have some collaboration with other developers but is mostly a dynamic where each dev would have split expectations and work on their own, so they are looking for someone that is self-sufficient and will not be needing advice on how to do things frequently. Someone who can hit the ground running.
• Banking or financial experience was not something that was a deal breaker but would be a ‘nice to have’.
