Position: SQL Developer
Location: Fairfax, VA/Remote
Long Term Contract
Responsibilities:
• Work with DevOps team to manage databases in cloud environments such as Amazon (MySQL, RDS).
• Participate on code reviews and validating DDL, DML DCL and TCL queries.
• Work with application development and DevOps teams to assist with troubleshooting poorly performant queries; deliver fixes and optimizations where appropriate.
• Evaluate and make recommendations regarding database design, application interaction and database resources.
• Develop archiving scripts to prune live data.
• Maintain and manage development and production support efforts, for various database related tasks adhering to database policies and procedures established by DevOps team.
• Optimize and maintain legacy solutions.
• Design, manage and analyze business and application needs to assist with determining and evaluating potential solutions.
• Reporting on metrics regarding usage and performance.
• Develop various reports based on business needs.
• Help production support team to develop queries and data fixes.
· Requirements:
• Must have 5 or more years of experience with moderate to complex database programming (SQL).
• In-depth understanding of database structure principles
• Experience working with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, Cassandra
• Data modeling experience
• Advanced SQL Querying
• Experience with GIT source control.
• Ability to work independently or within a team, as well as being self-motivated.
• Experience working on an Agile development team (SCRUM or KANBAN).
• DevOps skills are a nice to have
• Experience with Kubernetes is a nice to have
