Description:
• 5+ years of experience in computer programming, software development or related
• Previous experience as a data engineer or in a similar role
• Strong programming experience in Scala, Python & Cloud
• Experience working with cloud solutions preferably Azure or GCP
• 3+ years of solid Java and REST experience
• 2+ years of experience in design, implementation, and support of solutions big data solution in Hadoop using Hive, Spark, HBase
• Great numerical and analytical skills
• Hands-on experience with SQL database design

Remarks:
1 round hire - 2 engineers at 45 minutes each
Budgeted until Jan 2023 end and will extend based on budget.
100% remote is OK as long as the person is able to attend the occasional meeting that is scheduled outside of the candidates local time zone working hours.

This req is for a team that is doing data processing, working with data scientist team and trying to build a model together with that team. They need someone who is really good with Python and Spark or Scala and Spark. Also, someone who can write simple Java REST API webservices around the data model that the data scientists build. Someone that also has expertise with Spark and writing Spark jobs using Scala and/or Python - ideally someone that has both but either one is OK as long as they are good at it.

They need to have experience with migrating REST API services into GCP or AWS/Azure and be able to pick up GCP quickly. If the candidate does not have GCP experience then should be fundamentally very strong on Azure/AWS and able to pick up GCP very quickly by themselves as there is no one on the team that can teach them GCP.

Key Skills:
Spark, spark streaming, spark tuning, etc.
Scala and/or python to write a spark job – so ideally someone that has both but either one is OK
Java development - at least basic Java development experience to be able to write/build simple REST API webservices
Creating simple (not as complex as a full fledged Java developer would write) REST API services around the data model that the data scientists have created – providing interface for the webservice, migrate the services to GCP/cloud, etc.

GCP preferred but AWS or Azure is also ok as long as they have strong cloud concepts and are able to pick up GCP quickly.
