Network Engineer with a strong background integrating LINUX and networking technologies (routing, firewalls, IPSec, VLANs, network bridges, etc.) to work on cutting-edge SD-WAN projects in our Gaithersburg, Maryland office (Onsite).

Client: working with a preferred vendor and  they will discuss end client directly with candidate

Job Responsibilities

  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS).
  • Document, evolve and maintain lab network with approximately 100 devices.
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
  • Design & develop test automation tools using Python, Perl, Selenium, REST API and UNIX Shell scripts.
  • Understand IP routing and switching.
  • Day to day support of engineering labs development and release testing.
  • Performance testing the various combinations and publishing performance results.
  • Research and Analyze Product Features Being Tested.

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in electronics and computer systems
  • CCNA or equivalent certification
  • 5+ years’ experience of technical writing to document installation and test procedures, software design with required illustrations, and the resulting solutions.
  • 5+ years’ experience with IP Networking and TCP/IP protocol suite, including IPv4 and IPv6, L2/L3 switching/routing, and related technologies.
  • 5+ years’ experience configuring switches and routers; designing and developing test automation tools using Python and Linux shell scripts; performing deep dives with networking (layer 2 -4) troubleshooting especially overcoming getting-started and configuration issues with LINUX open-source networking packages.
  • 5+ years’ experience identifying, isolating and tracking bugs throughout testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong background installing and configuring LINUX networking packages, especially IPSec and routing packages.

Familiarity with SD-WAN, SDN and NFV a plus
