Description:
MDACC- Research Oversight & Integrity Specialist 
Work Location: Houston, TX 

Job Summary/Description 
Review for compliance of research funding applications, training, institutional resource 

Job Duties/Responsibilities/Functions (including but not limited to) 
Review for compliance of research funding applications. Performs comparative review of grants and sponsored agreements with IACUC, IBC, Stem Cell and Radiation protocols. Advises faculty and supporting staff of compliance status and facilitates correcting any outstanding issues in order to complete the compliance review. 
Institutional Resource - Serves as an institutional resource by answering calls to the Research Integrity help-line, answers questions to assist in finalizing grant compliance reviews. Refers questions and issues to responsible personnel when appropriate in a timely manner. In addition, maintain monthly metrics for grant congruency reviews. Serves as a backup coordinator for IACUC and IBC/RSC. Serves as primary coordinator for HEIPSCRO (Stem Cell) and MTA compliance. Assist in other areas as requested. 
Training - Provides training classes for faculty and staff regarding animal and biosafety materials on grant compliance reviews 
Other duties as assigned 
Minimum Qualifications 


EDUCATION 
Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field. 
Preferred: Master’s Level Degree 

EXPERIENCE 
Required: Four years of relevant experience. With preferred degree, two years experience required. 
Experience Preferred: Prefer candidates with experience working in a contract negotiation environment or grants management, research compliance and or research finance experience at an academic research center, pharmaceutical company, or government/other funding agency. Three years of related experience, with specific experience in supporting administrative or research projects. The ability to understand the humane use of animals in research and complex chemical and biological agents so that the candidate can properly evaluate items being used in protocols. May substitute equivalent years of Preferred Education for required experience on a one-to-one basis. Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in a clear, professional and sensitive manner. Ability to work efficiently under stress with time limits imposed. Must be able to interact with a variety of professionals, administrators, and support staff. Proficiency with MS Office software applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION 
Licensure/Certification Required: None 
Licensure/Certification Preferred: CPIA, CHRC

 
Additional Position Information (External Distribution)
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8 am – 5 pm | 100% remote | candidates with a scientific background is important | Please make your candidates aware they will not work on MD Anderson holidays
