Job Description

Job Summary

The Quality Assurance (QA) Tester assess software quality through automated and manual testing. They ensure that the final product meets quality standards and works as expected. This individual has focus on detail and excellent communication skills. QA testers apply their knowledge early in the software development process. They work closely with developers to recognize the potential for any operational issues, assess risks, and resolve issues before the new software is complete.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in and assist in leading the testing of applications and processes
  • Collaborate with the development team and stakeholders to ensure testable user stories are created and estimated properly
  • Support user acceptance testing and perform data validation.
  • Identify test conditions for user stories and administer the test plans, scenarios, and cases used in testing based on business requirements and/or product knowledge to ensure proper functionality
  • Execute testing tasks while paying attention to the overall goal.
  • Maintain and Execute tests to ensure code quality in a continuous integration environment with a focus on automation whenever possible.
  • Take responsibility for designing acceptance tests from functional requirements that clearly convey the business users' intent to the development team
  • Maintain proficiency with existing technologies and develop skills with new technologies
  • Participate in triage process including reproducing production issues, communicating workarounds and validating fixes
  • Accurately submit and maintain defects in the appropriate repository

Required

  • Regularly performs all the functions required in quality assurance testing and demonstrates strong comprehension of all concepts and applications associated with quality assurance testing
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, changing environment with multiple deadline-oriented
  • Consistently demonstrates ability to learn new information and complex business functions and apply knowledge to new concepts and projects
  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Information, Quality Assurance or related degree. A combination of education, experience and training may be considered in lieu of formal degree
  • 5+ years' experience in a Quality Assurance role with automated test case definition and execution experience
  • 3-4 years' experience writing test plans and procedures, tracking defects, documenting results and developing test cases for software applications Basic familiarity with Agile, Scrum, SAFe and/or Waterfall methodologies
  • Understanding of QA best practices in accordance with various methodologies, including but not limited to Agile, Scrum, SAFe, Waterfall, etc.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills driven by a logical, methodical approach.
  • Experience testing web-based applications
  • 2-4 years' experience coding with 2 or more OO programming languages (Java, VB, .net, C#, Python etc.)

Preferred

  • Experience working with the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Zephyr, Confluence, Bamboo)
  • Experience working with Eclipse IDE or IntelliJ IDE and Maven
  • Experience working in CI/CD environments
  • Experience developing automated test scripts using one or more test automation tools (Selenium, SoapUI, UFT/QTP, POSTMAN, HP ALM, TestComplete, MS CodedUI Test (CUIT), Silk Test, etc.)
  • Experience working with different types of testing frameworks; including both keyword and data driven automation frameworks
  • Experience designing and implementing performance test scenarios using load testing tools (Load Runner or J Meter)
  • Demonstrated ability to work cohesively with colleagues and enterprise technical teams and create a professional and productive environment
  • Experience creating and executing web service / SOA testing with tools such as SOAP UI
  • Exhibit ability to learn new information and complex business functions and apply knowledge to new concepts and projects
  • Understanding of and experience working with the defect life cycle process.
  • Understanding of and experience testing web service
