Position: EPIC Operational Database Administrator
Location: Vancouver, WA (remote until post-Covid)
Duration: 6 months
Job Description
Responsible for supporting and managing the Epic EMR on Intersystems Cache/Isis Operational Database and underlying Linux/AIX/UNIX environments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
� Creating & managing operational database environments that server production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs.
� Installing & maintaining the administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of the Epic EMR system and other systems.
� Building & maintaining clustering for high-availability
� Practice node-to-node & site-to-site failovers
� Understanding performance metrics, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting issues.
� Managing the logins for different types of access, including login behavior and working environment configuration.
� Applying Cach� and Epic upgrades, and updates to production and non-production environments.
� Configuring and maintaining environment copies/refreshes according to the environment strategy
� Responding to emergency after-hours issues
� Collaborating with technical teams & vendors to ensure proactive support
� Writing and maintaining scripts to improve system management tasks
� Participating in change control processes for all planned application and technical activities
� Maintaining & testing processes related to business continuity
� Following vendor best practices for hardware & software configuration
� Creating and maintaining documentation of policies and procedures
� Administer diverse Linux/AIX/UNIX server platforms
� Participate in Systems Support On-Call rotation
� Applying Unix upgrades and updates to production and non-production environments
� Ability to manage small to mid-sized projects
EDUCATION AND SKILLS
� Bachelor's or technical degree in related field (computer science, information systems, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
� Minimum of four (4) years' relevant (Systems/UNIX/Database Administration) experience.
� Epic ODBA certifications desired prior to hire / required within 6 months of hire
� Proven ability to communicate effectively, both in written and oral form
� Proven ability to work as part of a team, in a fast-paced production oriented environment
� Proven ability to satisfy customers and enhance software usage, in a production environment
� Knowledge of UNIX command shell (Korn, POSIX, Bourne, C), plus languages & utilities such as AWK, sed, & Perl
